Buddha was the founder of Buddhism, Buddha was only his nickname, his real name was Siddarth Gautama.
Buddhism contains about 365 million followers which dominates 6% of the worlds population.
The Buddhist's holy book is called the Tipitaka, it is written in an Indian language called Pali, Buddha spoke a language very similiar to this. The Tipitaka is a very large book, a translation of this book, in English, takes up nearly forty volumes.

The Buddhist's religious holidays include Mahayana Buddhist New Year, Nirvana Day, Theravadin Buddhist New Year, Vesak Puja- Buddha Day, Ullambana (Obon), Asalha Puja Day, and Bodhi Day (Rohatsu)
Buddhists rituals and customs support Almsgiving, Bodhi-Puja, Dalai Lama's Birthday, Dhabzhug Chenmo, and Drepung Lubum.
Buddhists wear everyday clothing like americans, but on special occasions wear robes and other traditional clothing.

In Buddhism there is really only 2 kinds of religious status, the monks, and everyone else. The monks are obviously the highest, they practice their lives of religion, and everyone else supports the monks.
